Deadlines serve more of an inspiration to me than a hindrance.
When an old friend got in touch with me to produce a new custom piece for a gift, I got struck by the sudden stroke of artistic motivation that only comes from a commission related panic.
Kayle is one of those League of Legends characters who I have but never play, and hate getting in ARAM. Always reroll Kayle. Always dodge when I get Kayle. Always uninstall League and burn hard drive when I think about playing Kayle.
But never delete the original art files. Another low-poly minimalist piece to add to the portfolio. Although, at a convention recently, someone mistook this for an Overwatch character. I'm not even going to pretend like I know what an Overwatch is.
In classic USPS fashion, the item was lost in limbo at some post office in downtown Chicago before finally shipping out to the final destination. Despite my ability to work under pressure, the piece never got there in time. A thousand apologies went immediately sent.
The dude who commissioned me is also a streamer on Twitch, and we've talked about this lost commission several times on both his stream and mine.
