Nothing motivates me more than appealing to the cheapskate soul that lives deep inside me. Seeing this email pop up in my inbox was a sign. Time to get finish my business card.
Luckily, Zazzle was already my preferred vendor. Out of the 6 or so odd printing services I considered, Zazzle was one of the few that offered the large jumbo 3.5 by 2.5 inch sized cards, the size necessary for my needs for the parallelogram shaped size that I want. I also wanted the rounded edges, which surprisingly, not every printing service offers.
The perfect situation would be to purchase from a local, Chicago based printing service that offered the specifications I wanted - even if it meant paying a premium price. Supporting local businesses and what not is one of my highest priorities, and through the bad rap Chicago is catching right now, a little love for the city is in everyone's best interest.
I decided to use my gritty paint splatter abstraction of the Chicago flag design as one side of my card to show my love for the city. On top of putting my contact information on the card, I wanted to show a sample of my art style. Ideally, I wanted to do one of each flag, with the Filipino flag as my other sample, but the time crunch of cashing in on that sweet 60% off deal limited my options.
The flip side of my card has this very website, email contact, and my Instagram link. I finally got "MantisArts" instead of my old link, MantisGamingArts, appropriate considering how little gaming art I work on nowadays.
The cards are going to be cut diagonally along the middle line. That little logo of my head in sun cracks me up. And of course, the QR code that shoots you directly into my store.
