FALA Chicago’s 2017 Annual Summer Soiree

FALA Chicago Logo - Revised.jpg

The Filipino American Lawyers Association of Chicago (“FALA Chicago”) invites you to our 2017 Annual Summer Soiree (“Summer Soiree”). The Summer Soiree will be held August 1, 2017, at Loyola University Chicago’s Kasbeer Hall located at 25 East Pearson Street, Chicago, Illinois.

FALA Chicago continues to actively inform and unite the Chicago-area Filipino American
legal community consisting of judges, attorneys, and law students. FALA Chicago achieves
its mission by hosting networking opportunities, advocacy, education, mentoring events,
and being active affiliates of the National Filipino American Lawyers Association (NFALA)
and National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA). We also partner in broader Filipino American community events, such as the Annual Circuit Court of Cook County Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Celebration and Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Chicago’s Piyesta Pinoy. In April, FALA Chicago co-sponsored the Investing for Your Future: How to Invest Wisely and Avoid Investment Scams event featuring Honorable Emilio B. Aquino, Commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission of the Philippines.

The Summer Soiree is our largest event where we host a diverse crowd of FALA Chicago
colleagues and supporters. Our guests include judges, solo practitioners, lawyers from
small, mid-size, and large law firms, general counsel, and other in-house attorneys from
Fortune 500 companies in the Chicagoland area, as well as legal industry service providers
and bar association friends.

We are excited to announce the recipient of the 2017 FALA Chicago Trailblazer Award
which honors a Filipino American attorney whose vision, leadership, and tenacity paved
the way for other Filipino American attorneys in the Chicago legal community. This year we will present this award to Michael P. Chu, partner at McDermott Will & Emery LLP. Among his many accolades, Mr. Chu is the former president of NAPABA and its Foundation for several years. Additionally, we will present a FALA Chicago Scholarship to one or more deserving Filipino-American student(s) pursuing a legal career.

We are able to assume an active role in the endeavors mentioned above, as well as our
continuous work towards fulfilling our mission, due in large part to the generous
sponsorship of our colleagues, and supporters. We invite you to sponsor the Summer
Soiree at one of the sponsorship levels listed below or to provide a silent auction item. The
proceeds from the Silent Auction will continue to fund FALA Chicago’s Scholarship
