Contrary to the manner in which Mr. Lovecraft writes, this quick 4.5 x 4.5 inch drawing of Cthulhu is real minimal and sparse in detail. I swear the man can write an entire story using only adjectives.
My recently acquired stylistic obsession is a series of blobs of various colors with watercolor pencils, followed by an outlining in ink. My favorite thing about watercolor is how fun it is to do color splats. In taking up color from the pencils with a wet paintbrush, you get a natural gradient of colors going from darkest to lightest as you flick the brush across the page.
Got any tips for new ways to use watercolor pencils? I'm new to the media and am looking for some new things to play around with.
